The Association of British Hujjaj (Pilgrims) UK (ABH), a National Hajj specific organization working for the welfare and well being of Hajj and Umrah pilgrims has shared and supported the concerns of Muslims worldwide regarding the extortionate prices being charged by the Umrah service providing companies including airlines at the start of the new Umrah season making it extremely difficult for Muslims around the world to perform their religious obligations especially during the holiday period.
It is highly regrettable that these service providers do not have any ethics and moral values. They are preying on vulnerable pilgrims including sick, elderly and the disabled through unjustified prices for their services and airline tickets. It is a total rip-off compared to similar travel packages to other destinations around the world, in view that many pilgrims are likely to have spent their life-savings to fulfil their desires and wishes to perform their religious obligations. It has also been reported that some airlines and travel companies are taking undue advantage of vulnerable Umrah travellers by acting in an inappropriate manner. This sort of exploitation of vulnerable travellers should not be allowed in this civilized world.
The Association of British Hujjaj (pilgrims) UK (ABH) calls upon the relevant governments, civil aviation other law enforcementauthorities to look into this issue and help and protect Umrah travellers by taking appropriate action to eliminate any malpractice and illegal activities within Umrah service providers in order to allow the pilgrims to perform their religious obligations without undue financial stress, hardship and difficulty.
