Authorities urged to prevent serious violation of the UK Legislation (PTRS 1992) amongst Hajj tour and travel operators

UK-legislationThe Association of British Hujjaj (Pilgrims) UK (ABH), a National Hajj specific charity expresses its grave concern that since the Hajj season is just round the corner and the bookings for the Hajj packages have commenced, the rouge tour and travel operator will once again prey and exploit the innocent prospective pilgrims including sick, elderly and disable by their malpractices.

These tour operators exploit the Hajj and Umrah pilgrims by charging extortionate and unjustified prices for the Hajj and Umrah packages, which is a total rip-off and most pilgrims were bitterly disappointed and distressed by the substandard services and by the degrading behaviour of their tour operators.

It is a disgrace that these rogue tour and travel operators are preying on vulnerable pilgrims at such an important time in their lives. The situation has worsened significantly in the last few years; therefore ABH strongly urges all the concerned Trading Standards and Police authority throughout the UK to crackdown on those who are responsible for this growing culture of deceptive, immoral and illegal practices. Such behaviour must not be allowed in this civilised society.

In serious violation of the UK Legislation, a substantial number of Hajj and Umrah tour operators do not provide any written agreement to the consumers (Pilgrims) and also a vast majority of organisers mislead the consumers regarding the package price, accommodation and travelling arrangements. They often increase the package price after the booking has been made.

Law enforcement authorities are also urged by the ABH, that they must take swift actions against the criminals who sell Hajj packages online through some fake websites and vanish near the Hajj time as in the past a number of prospective pilgrims have been conned through these fake websites leaving them stranded and in total devastation.
