Hajj fraud victims urged not to suffer in silence

MeccaThe Association of British Hujjaj (Pilgrims) UK (ABH), a National Hajj/Umrah specific charity, welcomes the joint initiative taken by Birmingham Trading Standards and National Trading Standards Board to set up a Hajj Task Force to combat Hajj-related frauds and malpractices by unscrupulous and rogue tour and travel operators.

The British pilgrims have been suffering the worst exploitation, corruption and malpractice for several decades, which is causing extreme hardship, trauma, financial exploitation, and mental anguish to a vast majority of vulnerable Hajj/Umrah pilgrims, including the sick, elderly and disabled.

ABH has been tirelessly campaigning for over a decade to raise the plight of vulnerable Hajj/Umrah pilgrims and the violation of the UK legislation. It is optimistic that this Hajj Task Force will help to eradicate malpractice and exploitation of innocent British citizens.

The Association of British Hujjaj (Pilgrims) UK (ABH) also strongly urges the British

pilgrims, who have performed Hajj this year and who were victims of exploitation or malpractice by their tour and travel operators, not to suffer in silence and forward their complaints to ABH, their local trading standards, the national Action Fraud squad of City of London Police, or “Hajj Help” so that appropriate action can be taken against those responsible for such crimes.
