Haramain High Speed Rail Launch between Makkah and Medina welcomed by ABH

The Association of British Hujjaj (Pilgrims) UK (ABH) – a National Hajj/Umra specific organization working for the welfare and wellbeing of Hajj/Umra Pilgrims –, extend its congratulations to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia towards the Haramain High Speed Rail which is being launched on the 24th of September, 2018.

In a letter sent to HE Dr Nabil bin Muhammed Al-Amoudi Minister of Transport, ABH expressed its appreciation towards the hard work and efforts which are being made by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to facilitate Haj & Umra arrangements for the Pilgrims from around the world.

This High Speed Rail Prestigious Project will significantly improve transport connections between Jeddah, Makkah and Medina to serve Pilgrims and especially will ease the strain on the Makkah and Medina highway.

It is highly regrettable that every year a large number of innocent pilgrims are losing their precious lives in such terrible circumstances. Horrific scenes of the accident’s aftermath and pictures and reports coming through caused immense grief and distress amongst the Muslims around the world.

The journey of over 300 km between Makkah to Madinah takes more than five hours. The long distance driving by drivers, in hot weather and lack of sleep and rest is lethal and are considered as contributing factors in most of the tragic road accidents which have now become the largest killer of Hajj/Umra Pilgrims in Saudi Arabia.

The Association of British Hujjaj (Pilgrims) UK is optimistic that Haramain High Speed Rail project will help to reduce the number of horrific road accidents on this highway and will enable millions of Hajj/Umrah pilgrims to complete their 300 km journey in two hours instead of six hours by bus between Makkah and Medina, safely and in comfort.
